Rule 1: Registration and Eligibility
a. All players must register individually, providing a valid ID for identity verification.
b. Only players born on or after January 1st, 2001, are eligible to participate in the tournament.
c. Players must arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before their scheduled game.
Rule 2: Match Format and Time Controls
a. The tournament will follow a knockout or round-robin format, depending on the number of participants.
b. Each player will have a set time limit per match, typically 15 minutes, with 10-second increments per move.
c. Games will be played according to standard chess rules, and all moves must be recorded for official review.
Rule 3: Opening and Move Etiquette
a. Players must shake hands before and after each match as a gesture of sportsmanship.
b. Touch-move rule applies: if a piece is touched, it must be moved unless declared otherwise before touching.
c. Illegal moves will be penalized based on tournament guidelines, potentially resulting in forfeiture of the match.
Rule 4: Conduct During Play
a. Players must maintain silence during matches to respect others in the competition area.
b. Usage of mobile phones or any electronic devices is strictly prohibited during matches.
c. Any form of coaching or communication with spectators during play will result in disqualification.
Rule 5: Draws and Endgame
a. Players may agree to a draw if both sides consent; however, draws within the first 20 moves are discouraged.
b. Stalemate, threefold repetition, and the 50-move rule will apply to determine draws if a checkmate is not possible.
c. In case of a draw in knockout rounds, a tiebreaker match with shorter time controls will be held.
Rule 6: Final Authority and Appeals
a. The tournament arbiter’s decisions are final in case of disputes or rule clarifications.
b. Players may raise concerns respectfully through official channels but must abide by the final ruling.
c. All appeals must be filed immediately after the match in question, along with supporting evidence if applicable.
